Nebraska Corn President Pleased Chamber Officials Working To Defend NAFTA

A delegation of U.S. Chamber of Commerce members are in Mexico City trying to smooth out trade relations as the NAFTA talks go into another round this week.. Nebraska Corn Growers Association President Dan Wesely says that’s positive as NAFTA is very important for America’s corn growers.

He says the original NAFTA has been very beneficial for U.S. agriculture and any move to exit it would be a big mistake.

Recently U.S. Chamber of Commerce members said they oppose key proposals by the Trump administration including the plan to add a five year termination clause to NAFTA. Wesely says putting in the termination clause doesn’t make sense.

The major purpose of the Chamber of Commerce trip is to work with Mexican officials to find ways to defend the agreement.
