The Nebraska Corn Board working with the U.S. Grains Council recently hosted a grain exchange with potential foreign customers from North Africa, Turkey, Israel and Taiwan. The event was held virtually due to the pandemic. Corn Board Vice Chairman and NCGA Board Director Brandon Hunnicutt says even though it was held virtually, they actually had more people participating than their in person exchanges in the past.
He says being able to visit with the group from Taiwan was a great opportunity to re-establish the trade relationship forged earlier between Nebraska and the Asian nation.
Hunnicutt says although there were no specific trade deals inked, the virtual exchange they had shows great promise for future business.
Nebraska was one of several states that partnered with USGC to host trade missions as part of the Virtual Grain Exchange. In total more than 1200 international customers registered for the series and represented 54 countries.
