Nebraska FFA chapters will have an opportunity to compete for educational and financial resources from the Nebraska Corn Board. The Ag Champions contest is designed for FFA chapters to submit advocacy plans that develop a program to increase education in communities about the issues and misconceptions about American agriculture. Kelly Brunkhorst is the NCB executive director, and he says the contest will feature three winners, who will receive grants based upon the chapters’ proposed program budget.

Brunkhorst says the chapters could reach out to community groups or expand the program reach into areas outside their locality. He says gold medal Olympian, Curt Tomasevicz is also part of the partnership to increase the agricultural advocacy throughout Nebraska.

Brunkhorst says the program proposals will be accepted at the NCB website until May and the winners will be announced in June.
