Nebraska’s corn and soybean harvests are a little behind schedule this fall, according to USDA data.
Roughly a quarter of the corn and almost half the soybeans are out of the fields.
Nebraska Extension agronomist Roger Elmore says reported yields vary widely.
Elmore says their modeling shows this year’s corn crop could be a little smaller than last year’s.
Jenny Rees with Nebraska Extension says the soybean crop, overall, should have a high yield.
The state’s winter wheat planting is nearly complete with some reports of it already emerging, especially in the Panhandle.
