Incoming Nebraska freshman Congressman Don Bacon has earned a spot on the House Agriculture Committee. Bacon defeated incumbent Brad Ashford, who also served on that committee. Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen says he’s pleased Bacon was chosen for the panel because it’s important for the state to be represented on that committee.

He says Nebraska needs representation on the Ag Committee since they’ll be helping write a new farm bill soon.

Hansen says Bacon has a good understanding of agriculture and will represent Nebraska well on the House Ag Committee.

Nebraska recently lost their representation on the Senate Ag Committee when Senator Ben Sasse left that panel for other committee duties.
