Nebraska Representative Don Bacon, member of the Ag Committee wants the House to reconsider the farm bill that failed last week. He’s concerned there are 40 farm programs that don’t have any baseline funding beyond 2018. Nebraska Corn Growers Association President Dan Weseley says he supports the reconsideration of the measure, as farmers need that legislation passed this year.
He says a farm bill is needed this year rather than an extension or farmers and ranchers could face funding cuts in the measure.
Weseley says Congress must pass a farm bill that contains a solid crop insurance program.
Weseley says besides reconsideration in the House of the farm bill, he’s also hoping the Senate moves quickly with their version of the legislation.
