Nebraska Congressman Adrian Smith says he’s very disappointed President Obama decided to take executive action to tighten gun control laws.
Smith says he’s concerned the president is overstepping his authority. . .

Smith says he joined 35 colleagues in writing the president in December when he was considering the executive action, asking the president for details and his reasoning behind the action. Smith says they never received a reply.
Smith says the country needs to concentrate on addressing the needs of the mentally ill, not in tightening gun controls, as it searches for answers in the wake of recent mass shootings.
Smith says recent studies indicate mental health issues play a big role in gun violence. . .

Smith says President Obama is abusing executive privilege in taking executive action to tighten gun laws.
