Nebraska Common Sense Group Reforms To Weigh In On Water Rule Rewrite

Common Sense Nebraska, a coalition of close to 30 Nebraska agriculture and business groups have re-formed to fight any attempts to change the Navigable Waters Protection Rule and push forward more stringent water rules at the federal level. The State Farm Bureau is part of that group. President Mark McHargue says they’re concerned EPA will push forward the unworkable regulations contained in the 2015 Waters of the U.S. rule.

He says the main reason Common Sense opposed the 2015 WOTUS is because of the federal overreach contained in that that called for regulating everything with waters on it including ponds and ditches.

McHargue says Common Sense representatives will provide comments to the EPA when they hold hearings later this fall on the Water Rule rewrite.

McHargue says another concern with the Biden Administration’s move to rewrite the Clean Water Rule is if they include the 2015 WOTUS they’ll trample the respect of private property rights and the balance of power and the state and local level.
