Since the Nebraska Unicameral adjourned in May, members of the Nebraskans United Coalition has been meeting to find a solution to properly funding the state’s schools and providing needed property tax relief. Coalition member and Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen says they’ve been meeting lately with Senators who aren’t members of the Revenue Committee.
He says one of the biggest property tax relief obstacles they have to overcome is to find something Governor Ricketts will support.
Hansen says to overcome any opposition from the Governor they have to get enough support from several State Senators for their relief plan.
Hansen says their coalition hopes to have a school funding, property tax relief measure for consideration early in the 2020 legislative session.
