The Nebraskans United for Property Tax Relief are in the process of putting together a package they want to present to lawmakers next month for their consideration in January at the Unicameral. State Farmers Union President John Hansen, member of the coalition says they’re goal is to find a way to adequately fund K-12 education and provide property tax relief.

He says the state’s tax system needs to be reconfigured to address the over reliance on property taxes.

Hansen says State Senators have been meeting this summer and have made a little progress.

Hansen says his coalition will need to get the support of at least 33 State Senators to overcome the Governor’s opposition to their proposal.
