Nebraska children with autism who are on Medicaid now have coverage for behavioral modification services.
The Department of Health and Human Services received federal approval after a lawsuit challenged the state’s denial of the service.
Vicki Depenbusch (DEPP-en-bush) with the Autism Family Network says some private insurers still don’t cover autism treatments.
Nebraska’s Director of the Division of Medicaid, Calder Lynch says the state will continue to work on this service.
Lynch says since October, 700 children have sought some type of behavioral modification services.
