Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts signed into law on Wednesday LB873, a property and income tax reform bill amounting to more than one billion dollars. The Nebraska Cattlemen’s Association played a major role in helping write the passed legislation. Brenda Masek is the president of the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Association.
Masek says the tax reform bill was given a boost from the passage of another tax reform measure from 2020.
Masek says the legislature lifted the financial ceiling which won broader support with cattle producers and other state agriculture groups.
The leader of the cattle producers says the tax reform bill also reduces the amount of tax dollars that were directed to the state’s community colleges. Something that cattle producers had advocated.
