Nebraska Cattlemen Association officials are reviewing Governor Pete Ricketts’ budget and tax legislation proposal released yesterday. Cattlemen Vice President of Legislative Affairs Laura Field says there are some components that would help provide property tax relief, which is their main priority.

She’s hoping State Senators pass some type of reform that addresses the high rate of property taxes.

There are several property tax relief measures floating in the Unicameral. Field says their leadership will decide which legislation they’ll support when they meet later this month.

Governor Ricketts’ Nebraska Property Tax Cuts and Opportunity Act cuts income taxes, redistributes property tax credits and gives agricultural land owners and homeowners income tax credits for property taxes paid.
