The Nebraska Cattlemen Association Board of Directors has prioritized three bills for the 2019 session of the Unicameral. One looks at the state’s Right to Farm law and the protections it provides against potential nuisance lawsuits. Cattlemen Vice President of Legislative Affairs Laura Field says LB 227 is a proactive measure that protects farmers and ranchers from being sued.

She says they also support LB 660 which would take away the requirement the Nebraska Brand Committee Executive Director be law enforcement certified. Instead it would put the requirement on the Brand Committee’s Chief Investigator.

And Field says they’re backing LB 427 which calls for property tax relief and addresses the inequity in statewide school funding.

The Nebraska Farm Bureau also supports LB 427, sponsored by Senator Curt Friesen.
