Ten of the workers at the JBS Grand Island, Nebraska beef packing plant have tested positive for COVID 19. That development is very concerning for the Nebraska Cattlemen Association. Association President Ken Herz says it’s critical the beef plants keep operating.

The General Manager at the JBS plant said they’re not requiring people who are sick to come into work and want all of those workers who are ill to stay at home. Herz says while they want the processing plant operating, the workers health is paramount.

Herz says the cattle industry currently needs all the processing facilities on line to deal with the numbers of cattle on the market.

The Grand Island JBS plant has 3,000 workers and according to company officials will continue to keep operating.
