Nebraska Cattlemen President Pleased With EU Parliament Confirmation Of Beef Trade

The European Parliament has voted to approve a plan granting the United States a country specific share of the European Union’s duty free high quality beef quota. That was confirmation of the agreement reached and signed in August. Nebraska Cattlemen Association President Mike Drinnen says that’s great news for America’s cattle producers.

He says several of Nebraska’s cattlemen already are producing the non hormone treated beef and that fits right into the quota approved by the European Union.

Drinnen says trade is critical for the U.S. beef industry and being able to increase that is very important.

Implementation of the E.U. agreement is on track for early 2020 according to the U.S. Meat Export Federation. This will allow U.S. beef into Europe 52 weeks a year without any delay or interruption.
