This week the Nebraska Unicameral approved a two-year state budget of nearly $9 billion. State Cattlemen Association Vice President of Legislative Affairs Laura Field says one of the most positive components for agriculture in the budget is the dollars put in the property tax credit fund.
She says going forward State Senators will need to address the rising property tax problem and come up with solutions.
Field says another positive for agriculture in the budget bill is that $100,000 in fee money was returned to the Nebraska Brand Committee.
Field says this year was a challenging one in meeting the state budget shortfall and there’s a lot of concern with the next budget round, especially if the ag economy doesn’t turn around.
