The Nebraska Legislature’s Agriculture Committee held a hearing Tuesday on a pair of bills dealing with the state’s Brand Committee. Nebraska Cattlemen Association Director of Government Affairs Ashley Kohls says her group testified against LB 1165, the measure calling for elimination of the Brand Committee.

She says they testified in favor of LB 1200, a measure calling for revamping of the Brand Committee.

Kohls says both measures were just heard with a decision coming later on which if either is moved out of committee or given priority status for further legislative consideration.

Kohls says the next step is for the Agriculture Committee to meet in Executive Session and vote on the bills. No date has been set yet for that meeting.
