Nebraska state lawmakers have approved a two year $9.3 billion dollar budget. Included in that is an additional $51 million for the property tax credit relief fund. Nebraska Cattlemen Association President Mike Drinnen says while that’s a positive move, more is needed to relieve the property tax burden citizens and many in agriculture are feeling.

Drinnen says his group’s members are aware there’s a property tax relief petition being circulated but they’ve taken no official position on it as an organization.

Drinnen says not only do farmers, ranchers and all citizens need significant property tax relief but with the depressed condition the ag economy is in, young people wanting to get into the business desperately need it as well.
