The Nebraska Cattlemen Association Board met late last week and set their state legislative priorities for 2018. Vice President of Legislative Affairs Laura Field says they’re looking at nearly 50 pieces of legislation, but focusing their efforts on property tax relief.

She says their board is backing measures to more effectively fund education.

Field says they’re also monitoring some natural resource water quality bills and a measure to protect cattle producers from the adverse impact of drones.

Field says it’s early in the session, so there are several hearings to be held yet before anything gets approved. She’s says it’s a shorter session this year, ending in early April.
