Nebraska Cattle Group Tracking State Legislation

Nebraska lawmakers are close to wrapping up their 2014 session with the final day set for April 17.  The State Cattlemen’s Association is watching to see what happens with some ag issues and water bills as lawmakers wind down their work.  Cattlemen’s State Legislative Director Laura Field says one measure that they’re pleased has been approved deals with exotic animal sales.

Field says the Exotic Animal legislation was critical in that it provides for inspections and trace back of those sales that seem to be increasing in Nebraska.

Field says that trace back provision is important especially if an exotic animal gets loose and co mingles with other livestock.
