Nebraska Cattlemen Association leaders are continuing to work with state lawmakers to try and achieve property tax relief. Cattlemen’s Legislative Director Laura Fields says this week they’re concentrating on LB 959 which would limit school spending and provide property tax relief.

She says that’s a tough issue because it’s difficult to balance the need for school funding and yet be able to find another source rather than just property taxes to pay for it.

Field says it’ll be a bit of a battle to achieve property tax relief through LB 959.

She says the other property tax relief bill they’re watching was heard last week and that’s LB 958 which would cap ag valuations yearly at 3 percent.
