Nebraska State Senators are back in session starting today and will be meeting for seventeen days as they work to complete their 2020 business. Nebraska Cattlemen Association’s Director of Government Affairs Ashley Kohls says getting property tax relief passed remains their priority issue and they’ve been engaged with State Senators since they went on recess earlier about that need.

She says they’re supporting Revenue Committee Chairman Lou Ann Linehan’s property tax relief bill, lb 1106 which also has Governor Pete Rickett’s backing.

Kohls says besides property tax relief, they also want legislators to approve continued COVID 19 relief for producers and also expect a brand bill to be discussed.

Kohls says while 17 days is a bit of a compact session, often times, state lawmakers get more done when they’re pushed by the calendar.
