The major issues Nebraska Cattlemen Association members expect the Unicameral to address in the new session in January are taxes and transportation. Nebraska Cattlemen’s Director of Legislative Affairs Laura Field says property tax relief is a main goal of many ag groups as well as Governor Elect Pete Ricketts. She says how to get there in the best and most efficient method is yet to be determined.
Field says besides property taxes, income taxes is another area expected to see some discussion.
She says another challenging issue will be how to fund transportation and infrastructure upkeep.
Field says there’s a lot of concern in the state about bridges and the need for repair and upkeep.
