More than 200 Nebraskans died by suicide in 2015 and state health experts say just one death is too many.
Behavioral Health Service manager Renee Faber says September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness month, but the topic needs to be discussed throughout the year.
Faber says the more people know what to do, the more lives can be saved.
Data shows people under age 24 or above age 65 are at a higher risk for suicide.
The highest number of suicides in Nebraska are found in the 20-to-24 age group.
Faber says the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is always available by calling 1-800-273-TALK (8255.)
