Nebraska Secretary of State John Gale calls his decision to allow the Republican gubernatorial ticket to change the name of the lieutenant governor candidate a pragmatic one, backed by sound legal reasoning.
Gale allowed Lavon Heidemann’s name to be replaced by Mike Foley, despite the passing of the September first deadline for changes.
Gale says allowing the change avoided voter confusion, and nothing to do with partisan politics.
Gale insists he would have reached the same conclusion if Democrat Chuck Hassebrook had requested the change.
