The Nebraska Agriculture Leaders Working Group has outlined principles to guide action on comprehensive tax reform for their state. Working Group member Troy Stowater, President of the Nebraska Cattlemen Association says that reform needs to be done as soon as possible.

He says it’s not just a tax problem they’re dealing with, it’s also a spending problem.

Stowater says the Ag Leaders Working Group is anxious to work with the Governor and State Senators in finding a solution to the over reliance on property taxes.

Currently property taxes in Nebraska comprise 48-percent of the combined collections of property taxes, state sales tax and state income tax.
