The USDA has approved Nebraska’s state plan for growing of industrial hemp. State Agriculture Director Steve Wellman says his department will take applications for commercial cultivation, processing, handling and brokering of industrial hemp beginning February 3.

He says testing will be handled according to Nebraska State Law and USDA regulations and growers will pay for that testing.

Wellman says once licenses are approved and fees are paid, then farmers can start growing the crop.

Wellman says applications are taken on line at NDA dot Nebraska dot Gov.
