The market value of agricultural land in Nebraska gained about 6 percent for the second straight year according to the University of Nebraska Lincoln’s Farm Real Estate Market Survey. The average per acre registered $2,895 dollars. UNL Extension Educator and Ag Systems Economist Jim Jansen says factors that led to the increase included higher commodity prices along with low interest rates.
He says while the 6 percent rise was higher than in prior times, it still represents a gradual change which is what economists prefer to see.
Jansen says irrigated cropland saw a little more of an increase than dryland.
