Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts is hosting a series of town hall meetings starting this week across the state. The Governor will discuss concerns he has over what he calls the President’s radical climate agenda and his 30 by 30 plan. Nebraska Corn Grower’s Association Executive Director Kelly Brunkhorst says his group share’s the Governor’s views on those issues.

Nebraska Farm Bureau President Mark McHargue says agriculture needs to watch 30 by 30 and the climate agenda carefully. He says a major worry is if the administration goes forward with perpetual easements.

Brunkhorst says any move toward climate change must include incentives for farmers and ranchers and have voluntary based regulations.

McHargue says another concern with 30 by 30 where 30 percent of the lands are going to be protected by 2030 is that most of the land in Nebraska is privately owned making that plan more difficult for them than any other state.

Meetings are set for today in Clay Center at 8:30 am., and in Norfolk at one p.m.
Other town halls are in Wahoo June 7 at 9:30 am and Broken Bow at 1 p.m.
