This week the Nebraska Unicameral unanimously passed legislation to improve broadband access in the state. Agriculture groups in the state backed the measure which was Senator Tom Brandt’s priority bill. Nebraska Farm Bureau’s State Government Relations Director Ansley Fellers says the legislation should help Nebraska gain needed federal assistance for expanding broadband services.

She says one of the concerns that brought the bill forward had to do with several underserved areas of broadband in the state.

Feller says it’s positive Senators realized the importance of having proper broadband access as most people are very dependent on it for not only business but for school students and also for those dealing with a global marketplace.

Governor Pete Ricketts is expected to sign the legislation.
