Opponents to so called “puppy mills” turned out this week to fight the reappointment of Nebraska Agriculture Director Greg Ibach. Nebraska Farm Bureau’s Vice President of Government Relations Jay Rempe says his group and most ag organizations support Ibach’s reappointment.
Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen says the puppy mill issue has been a long standing one. He says his organization, while not always agreeing with Ibach, back him and like the work he’s been doing.
While Hearts for United Animals led the anti puppy mill groups in opposing Ibach, The Nebraska Humane Society of Omaha like the job Ibach is doing and supports him. Despite the opposition raised at the Senate Ag Committee hearing, Ibach is expected to be confirmed.
