Nebraska State Agriculture Director Greg Ibach has been elected President of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture. Ibach says some of the major issues NASDA is involved with is the Food Safety Modernization Act, the Waters of the U.S. Rule and the Renewable Fuels Standard.
He says the Food Safety Modernization Act could have a big impact on agriculture and the current problem is the federal government hasn’t provided any funding to implement it.
Ibach says another major issue NASDA’s been involved with is helping producers deal with the avian influenza outbreak this year and preparing to deal with future outbreaks.
This past year Ibach served as Vice President of NASDA. He was elected President at the group’s recent annual meeting in Hawaii.
