High school students in northeast Nebraska now have a better opportunity to explore agricultural careers through the Northeast Nebraska Agriculture Compact. The program is coordinated by Northeast Community College. Jill Heemstra serves as the community college’s ag program director, and tells how the program started.
This week 20 other K-12 schools had joined the agricultural compact.
Heemstra says the program was created to help students find classes that will direct them to agricultural careers.
The 20 new schools that joined the Ag Compact include: Ainsworth, Allen, Battle Creek, Boone Central, Elkhorn Valley, Emerson-Hubbard, Homer, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Neligh-Oakdale, O’Neill, Ponca, South Sioux City, Stanton, Summerland, Umonhon Nation, Walthill, Winnebago, Winside, and Wisner-Pilger.
