Solitary confinement of youth in Nebraska’s juvenile facilities can be as long as three-months.
A new report from the ACLU of Nebraska compiled data on the use of solitary and now wants the state to end it when it comes to teens.
Executive Director Danielle Conrad says research shows that four-hours is the longest duration any teen should be isolated.

ACLU of Nebraska Legal Director Amy Miller says the findings from the two state and five county-run facilities are disturbing.

The seven facilities in the state are operated by the departments of Correctional Services or Health and Human Services.
The ACLU wants to end solitary confinement for youth offenders, except for a last resort with a four-hour maximum duration.
