A bill that would have eventually banned abortions in Nebraska failed in the legislature Wednesday.
LB933 was sponsored by Senator Joni Albrecht of Thurston…
Senator Megan Hunt of Omaha said there would be strong opposition….
Senator Tony Vargas of Omaha said they were not listening to the experts on this issue….
Thirty-three votes were needed to end debate on the bill and send it to the second round. The final vote was thirty-one to fifteen, effectively killing the bill for this session. The bill would have become effective if and when the US Supreme Court overturned the Roe v Wade decision on abortion.
There are only six days left in the 2022 session.
