Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts was elected with a pledge of lowering property taxes as his highest priority. So far, the legislature doesn’t seem to have the same priorities. A bill that would have lowered the valuations of ag land from seventy five to sixty five percent was not passed out of the Revenue Committee.
Senator Tyson Larson of O’Neill says it wasn’t the best plan for lowering property taxes.
Larson says Senators are waiting for changes in tax levies at the county level
Larson says the Governors support for the concept could help move a bill through.
Lawmakers are back in Lincoln after a three day weekend, and will take a four day holiday this coming weekend.
