Last week the Nebraska Legislature’s Revenue Committee approved a property tax relief bill that’s expected to be debated on the floor of the Unicameral on Thursday. Nebraska Cattlemen’s Director of Legislative Affairs Laura Field says the relief is in the form of a property relief tax credit that amounts to close to $30 million dollars.
She says that breaks down to a significant amount of property tax relief for farmers and ranchers.
Field says property tax relief is needed for most Nebraskans, not just for agriculture. She says it’s a long term problem that needs a solution.
Field is hopeful State Senators will approve this measure as time is running out in the 2016 session with less than two weeks left before full adjournment.
