The Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island is off to a great start this year. Fair Executive Director Joseph McDermott says attendance figures for the first four days of the event show a hefty increase over past fairs of 20-percent.

McDermott says the increase in attendance can be attributed to an outdoor country music concert they had for the first time ever.

McDermott says they’re expecting attendance to be strong through the remainder of the fair, especially when the 4-H and FFA kids come in Friday for their weekend shows and competition.

The Fair opened August 28 and runs through September 7.
