Nebraska State Agriculture Director Greg Ibach has named the members of the newly created Livestock Development Matrix Committee. The committee is charged with putting together a development matrix that can be used by county government officials for siting livestock operations. Nebraska Farm Bureau First Vice President Mark McHargue was named to the panel. He’s hoping they can come up with good recommendations for counties to follow.

McHargue says it’s important the plan benefits all ag producers, counties and interested parties.

He says the committee will likely look at matrix systems used in other states as they formulate their development plan and adapt it for Nebraska.

The assessment matrix must be completed by August 30 of 2016.
