The Nebraska Grain Sorghum Board has announced the organization of an international coalition to focus on marketing and consumer education as it pertains to value-added sorghum-based products. The Coalition of United Sorghum Professionals (CUSP) will be comprised of industry leaders, agency directors, and private industry partners from several regions around the world. Nate Blum Executive Director of the Grain Sorghum Board says this collaboration will work to expand the crop’s popularity and utilization.

He says there will be some differences in terminology across the regions, but regardless the goal is to make sorghum a more household name worldwide.

The USDA reports that Nebraska producers planted 280,000 acres of Sorghum in 2021.
