Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts is turning up the heat on EPA to increase the Renewable Fuel Standard volume levels in the final hours before the comment period closes. Several ag leaders including State Farm Bureau President Steve Nelson appeared with the Governor at a news conference on the RFS and says the agency needs to follow the original Congressional intent for the legislation.

Nelson says the agency’s concerns that the standards can’t be met by the biofuels industry are unfounded.

Nelson says today is the comment deadline on the RFS levels and it’s important people submit their views.

Friday the Governor’s office released an economic analysis showing the RFS’s impact on Nebraska is estimated at $11.1 billion and it has created nearly 40,000 jobs.
