NE Farmers Union President Reacts to Tax Reform Markup

The House Ways and Means Committee is marking up the Republican’s tax reform proposal this week. Farm groups have given the legislation mixed reviews. Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen says his group is studying the legislation to see what impact it will have on farmers and ranchers. He says there are both pros and cons in the measure.

He says one concern with the House GOP tax reform proposal is its negative impact on the national deficit.

Hansen says he’s also concerned that the House tax reform bill gives most of the benefits to corporations over individuals.

Hansen wants to see what the Senate proposes for tax relief, so that can be compared with the House version.
