The Nebraska Farmers Union will join other farm groups pushing for more property tax relief in the upcoming Unicameral beginning January 6. President John Hansen says increasing land values, along with the state aid formula, have created a tough burden for farmers and ranchers.
He says the way the current state aid to education formula works puts a heavy reliance on agricultural property.
Hansen says his group will also be working on renewable energy legislation during the session. He says due to the federal extension of both solar and wind tax credits there will be a push at the state level to take advantage of both of those incentives.
