The Environmental Protection Agency has put forward an Affordable Energy Proposal that would relax carbon emissions standards of power plants. Nebraska Farm Bureau Director of National Affairs Jordan Dux says they’re reviewing the plan, but like it on the surface. He says it’s better than the Obama administration’s plan which put forth stringent and costly regulations.
He says the major concern of farmers and ranchers with this rule is the cost to them and making sure they have access to affordable energy.
Some Democrats and environmentalists are opposing the proposal and may end up taking it to court. Dux says that’s always a concern when these issues end up being settled by litigation.
Dux says the Nebraska Farm Bureau will be submitting comments on the rule.
