NE Farm Bureau Optimistic About Mexico Trade Deal

Nebraska Farm Bureau members are pleased with the trade agreement announced this week between the United States and Mexico. Farm Bureau President Steve Nelson says both countries are important trading partners for both U.S. and Nebraska’s farmers and ranchers. He’s hoping now they’ll be able to bring Canada into a tri-lateral deal with the U.S and Mexico.

He says the sooner they can complete a total remake of NAFTA the better but even it involves a pair of bilateral deals that also would be beneficial.

Nelson says Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts led two trade missions, one to Canada and one to Mexico this year. He says that’s a major reason his group is endorsing Governor Ricketts in his bid for re-election this November.
