Nebraska Farm Bureau leaders are working with Governor Pete Ricketts and state lawmakers to find solutions to the rising property tax problem. Farm Bureau Vice President of Government Relations Jay Rempe says one idea is to find new sources to help fund education.

Rempe says the property tax burden on agriculture has been difficult and it’s only getting worse. The problem is also effecting other residents. He says those property tax rates have been rising steadily for the past ten years.

Rempe says Farm Bureau has been working with the State Cattlemen’s Association and hopes to bring other ag groups, legislators and the Governor together in a unified approach in hopes of finding a solution.
