The Nebraska Department of Roads (NDOR) has been developing a new alternative route, to provide a long term transportation solution for Nebraska Highway 12 between Santee and Niobrara. The highway has been flooded several times by rising Lewis & Clark Lake.

Planning and Project Designer, Mike Owen says NDOR is still in the “environmental process,” while trying to identify an alignment the public would support, and that can be permitted…

Owen says at the meeting last November, the public made it clear they want something along the existing alignment, so NDOR establishment a new alternative called A8

Owen says there were too many public concerns with the previous alternative

NDOR is planning a public meeting for this fall to present the new alternative as it compares to the rejected plan.
