North Dakota Ag Commissioner Doug Goehring just returned from a trade trip to India. He says the potential for export business in India is huge as its one of the largest populations in the world. He says the potential for future trade with India centers around soybeans and pulse crops such as peas, lentils, chickpeas and dry edible beans.
He says the market potential is huge in India especially with 53 percent of their population age 25 or younger.
Goehring says there’s also a great opportunity to sell U.S. poultry products in India and possibly down the road, some beef.
Goehring says Indian consumers are mostly interested in the high value cuts of beef.
