The National Corn Growers Association wants Congress to get ratify the USMCA trade agreement. President Lynn Chrisp, who farms near Hastings, Nebraska, says they recently met with officials from the U.S. Trade Representative’s Office about the importance of the deal to corn growers.

President Donald Trump has considered early withdrawal from NAFTA before the new USMCA agreement is officially ratified. Chrisp says that would be a major mistake.

Chrisp says the USMCA is a critical deal because Mexico is the top export market for U.S. corn.

Chrisp says over the last 25 years of the original NAFTA deal American corn exports to Canada and Mexico increased 300 percent.
